Mary was born on June 27, 1951 to the union of the late Cleveland and Lovie C. (Brown) Richardson, in Whatley, Alabama.

She attended Indian Ridge Junior High and graduated from Clark County High School. She also became a certified chef in 2007. She moved to Toledo, Ohio in 1969 and began working at Irv's Restaurant. Mary worked at various restaurants, retiring from Olga's Kitchen. She later moved to Flint, Michigan, but eventually returned to Toledo. After retiring she decided that she wanted to become a greeter until she passed away.

The core of who she was, was her selfless ability to look out for the needs of others. She genuinely cared about others and would feed those who were hungry from her own kitchen.

On July 17, 2005, she married Roderick W. Wright and acquired three children and fourteen grandchildren.

One of the joys of her life was giving and praying and this was due to her love of God. She was baptized in Indian Ridge, Alabama, under Reverend E. M. Dubose as a teenager. She later joined Grace Temple under Pastor M.L. Johnson. She joined her husband at UNB Church in November 2005 under Elder R. L. Witty, where she was a Mother, Greeter, Usher, Head of the Kitchen, Intercessory Prayer Warrior, she had her own prayer line.

Mary was preceded in death by an infant daughter, her parents, two sisters, and three uncles.

She leaves to mourn, her husband, Roderick Wright; her only son, Vincent Richardson; children, Donnie Howard, Roderick Wright and Harlen Williams; twelve grandchildren; sisters, Bessie Johnson, Hattie Nettles, Eloise Denson, Mammie Sigler, Louise (John) Hearst, Evelyn Hurry, and Earlean Hurry; brothers, Charles (Inez) Richardson, Cleveland Lafitte, both of Alabama, Freddie (Brenda) Richardson, of Louisiana, Sherman Hurrye, of Richmond, Virginia, and Terry Hurrye, of Wilmington, North Carolina; uncle, Johnny Packer; devoted cousin, Joann (John) Fail; life-time friend, Mary Frances Lewis; god-son, John Marion Fail "Chocit"; god-parents, Curtis Sr. and Vella Jewels; also leaving behind a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and extended church family.
