Obituary for Jeanette Rose Smith-Banks (Roberts)

Ms. Jeanette (Gran Ma Rose) Banks was born August 11, 1953, to Fannie Mae Smith and William Roberts in Toledo, Ohio. She departed this life April 30, 2014 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center. Jeanette was a graduate of Jesup W. Scott High School (1972). Jeanette had zest for life and lived life to its fullest; she enjoyed a variety of activities which included skating, bid wisk & Ballroom Dancing. Jeanette’s competitive spirit is legendary. Jeanette was an avid animal lover, she had 2 dogs she loved dearly, Sasha and Red, who she leaves behind. Jeanette was last employed by The Goodwill Industries, after retirement she spent her time carrying the message of recovery to the sick and suffering addicts in the 12 Step fellowship of NA, Jeanette valued the relationships she made during her 18 years in the NA fellowship. Her "clean" date was June 1, 1996, which was a proud, life saving moment. Jeanette was preceded in death by her mother, Fannie Mae Smith, brother, Danny Smith; grandfather Henry Burton, grandmother, Rose Burton, uncle, Robert Burton, great-grandmother, Fannie Sanders, and her beloved dog, Snoop. Jeanette Rose Smith-Banks leaves to cherish her lifetime memories children; Abdusshakoor (Shuar) McCoy-Parker, Sabrina Rose Smith, Rocqual Reane Banks, sister Shelia Stovall, Brothers James Smith and Bruce Smith. Grandchildren Ternel Smith, Christopher Graves, Doncheel Payne, Jeffery Hudson, Myron Carr, Tynesha Banks, Anthony McClain, RaMika Jeanette Harris,Devon Smith, four great grandchildren, special friend George Moore, Jr., best friends Francine Woodson, Denise Woodson-Cornett and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, friends and the not so friendly. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2014, at 12:00noon, preceded by a 11:00 am Wake, at Phillips Temple C.M.E Church. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2014, from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at The House of Day.
