Obituary for Norman H. Jamison Sr.

Norman Harvey Jamison Sr., better known as "Mr. J", went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 13, 2008. Norman was 70 years old, born in Pittsburg, PA on December 3, 1937, to the late Theodore R. Jamison Sr. and the late Bertha Serena Reed-Jamison. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Delma, and seven loving children. Beloved father of Kimberly (Lance) Carter, Columbus, Ohio, Kelly (Alfred) Avery, Bowling Green, Ohio, Tracie (Fred) Mangum, Toledo, Ohio, Tammy Jamison, Toledo, Ohio, Norman (Sabrina) Jamison Jr., Toledo, Ohio, Meghan Jamison, Bowling Green, Ohio and Erin Jamison, Toledo, Ohio; brother, Theodore (Joanne) Jamison Jr., Newark, NJ; sisters, Nora (Leroi) Coit, Wilmington, DE, and Norvella Brown, Wilmington, DE. He was a loving grandfather of 22 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. "Mr. J" was a caring, giving, and kindhearted man who had a positive influence on his community and co-workers. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. For nearly 40 years he taught as a Biology/Ecology teacher for the Toledo Public School System and retired in 2006. He also worked for the National Youth Sports Program (NYSP) at the University of Toledo for 26 years, serving as an Activity Director, Counselor, and Instructor. Mr. Jamison worked and served in the Toledo community as a mentor for many organizations and he will be greatly missed by many. Visitation will be held at The House Of Day Funeral Home, 2550 Nebraska Ave., on Friday, January 18, 2008, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wake 11 a.m. and Homegoing services at 12 noon Saturday, January 19, 2008, at Bibleway Temple, 2335 Collingwood Blvd. Officiant Pastor Bruce Mitchell, Sr.
