Obituary for Mattie Fikes Newkirk

Mattie Fikes Newkirk, 96, passed away Saturday, February 14, 2015 at Ebeid Hospice. She was born July 5, 1918, the daughter of Robert Thomas Fikes and Mattie Brunson. She was a retired school teacher in Southeastern North Carolina. Mattie was a lover of children and a member of Church of New Beginnings. Mattie is survived by son, Jerome (Veronica) Newkirk; daughter, Cassandra (David McMillan) Newkirk; grandson, Raymond; granddaughter, Pamela; niece, Hazel Butler; and a host of other family & friends. Special thanks to Promedica Hospice for the loving care that was given and to Dr. Ryan Richardson. Funeral services will be Thursday, February 19. 2015 at 6:00pm at Church of New Begginings, preceded by 5:00pm wake. Services entrusted to The House of Day Funeral Services. Burial will take place at Green Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemtery, Wilmington, NC. Please sign register book
