Mrs. Helen (Gaiter) Watson, "Big Moma", "Grandmoma Bruce", went home to be with the Lord, August 5, 2016, in the presence of her daughter Brenda, at Fairview Nursing Facility.

Helen was born on March 4, 1924, in Montgomery, Alabama, to the union of the late Thomas and Pearl (Jones) Gaiter.

Helen accepted Christ at an early age and never waivered. She truly loved the Lord, went his teachings to insure her reunion with her mother that she grieved for still. She read her bible relentlessly and she loved the Heavenly Father, the christian station on television was her favorite.

She labored many years as a Domestic Worker.

She was a loving and dedicated mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and neighbor. She never met a stranger and had a heart of Platnum Gold. She devoted her life to many family members. God blessed her, brought her out of the dark and hateful times of her era and watched over her.

She enjoyed shopping, movies, dining out, watching soap operas, sitting on the porch in the summer, passing out snacks and goodies to the kids, and motown music and gospel.

She adored her sister Jean, they were close to each other, they were two beautiful souls, and Matriarch Queens.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Reed Watson, sons, Carlton K. Swain and Charles J. Swain, seven siblings, Grace, Bertha, Marion, Charles, Waverly, Carlton,and Richard Gaiter.

She leaves to cherish her amazing life and memories, sister, Edna Gaiter Autry; daughter, Brenda Morphis Royster; sons, Gilbert L. (Margaret) Morphis, Hopkins, SC, Duane Swain and Bruce Watson; stepson, Warren (Thelma) Morphis; adopted daughter, Louise Tamlynn; 14 grandchildren, Helen, Chevene, Ebony, Melissa, Pernell, Orlandis, Marcel, Monique, Tyler, Maya, Charles, Vikky, and adopted granddaughter, Rhonda Allen, who played a monumental role in her last 4 years of life, caring for her professionally, in a caring and loving way beyond anything the family could have hoped for. She loved Helen as a natural loving family member would, and Helen felt it and she loved her also; adopted grandson, Malik Saunders who was a 24/7 go to person, that did it all, transportation, babysitting her great grandkids in order for the family to do when unexpected situations arose, the word "No", never formed on his lips, even when he was not feeling well.; great grandchildren, Siara, Ronald, III, John, Jr., Shaylee, LaKease, Charmane, Chalissa, Shawntoria, Aarin, Miles and K'Lynn, who sat with Helen everyday after school, talking to Helen, telling all the latest, keeping her smiling and happy. When school was over, Helen missed K'Lynn's daily visit and K'Lynn missed her. When K'Lynn would come when summer activities were not scheduled, Helen would ask... where have you been? I have been waiting for you. great great grandchildren, Sa'Niya, Elijah, Carter, Norah, Kaidence, Chayden and Karino, and a host of nieces and nephews whom she loved.

Helen loved everyone, but she had a special bond with her only surviving sibling, Jean's girls, Maxine, Lynn, Phyllis, Peggy, Marsha and Marion.

The family would like to thank Fairview and the entire staff, Lisa and her Hospice Staff, for caring for their beloved, Helen Watson. And to the family and friends for their part in stepping up for them, not only today, but everyday.
