Sondra has always been a vibrant light. Growing up in Toledo, Sondi was a happy child. She was very active and always busy getting into something. She graduated from Whitney Vocational High School class of 1969. A couple years later Sondra moved from Toledo, OH and settled into life on the south side of Chicago, IL; where she met and married Ron Gilbert. It was here Sondra (Ron) raised 5 children, Tre’Shombie George, Ruqaiyah Abdul-Al-Qahhar, Zainab Faisal, Muhajir Bin Abdul-Al-Qahhar, and Ja’Haan Kimbrough. Sondra has touched countless lives. She was so many things for so many people. She was a mother, a wife, a sister, a daughter, a nana, an aunt, a friend, a counselor and so much more. She loved and lived for her children; birthed and adopted. She was a listening ear and a consoling shoulder, but most importantly Sondra was the epitome of real! If you knew her then you know she never sugar-coated anything. Her advice was direct and honest and exactly what you needed to hear. She was as genuine as a person could ever be and will be forever loved and sorely missed. Sondra is welcomed in heaven by her mother Jenna (James) Hasan, her father Saviano Frais Sr., her grandmothers Maxine (Andrew) Whitfield and Dorothy (Felix) Powell and brothers Dal, Saviano Jr., and Anthony Frais.
