Obituary for Willie M Wideman
Mother Willie Mae Wideman will be remembered for her outstanding ability to encourage and help others pursue greatness while striving for excellence. In her unique way, Willie Mae left this legacy on earth to remain with all of the lives she touched. On August 31, 1927, Willie Mae was the only child born to the union of Edward and Elsie Ray Frazier. Her unique star steadily shined brighter throughout her life’s accomplishments and endeavors.
Mother Wideman received her education in the Chicago Public Schools and Wilson Junior College. She began her work career in the Chicago Judicial system and retired in October 1992 from the Chicago Housing Authority after 25 years of dedicated service.
She married Francis H. Wideman on October 14, 1950, in which they enjoyed 53 years of marriage before his transition of this earthly life. God blessed their union with two daughters, Karen Elise (deceased) and Cheryl. Willie Mae and Francis were blessed with three grandsons, George, Eric Christopher (deceased) and Jamal.
Mother Willie Mae was a devoted Christian that loved Jesus professing salvation at an early age followed by a reaffirmation of the finished work of Jesus Christ during her adult years.
Mother Willie Mae’s passion for leisure enjoyment of attending social events, entertaining, retail shopping (a merchandiser’s dream retail client), and travelling. She enjoyed vacationing on an Alaskan cruise and various Caribbean cruises. Her travels included Paris, London, and various United States destinations.
On September 7, 2019, after 92 years living in Chicago, Mother Willie Mae relocated to Sylvania, Ohio to be near her Ohio family.
Cherished memories of Mother Willie Mae will be embraced by her daughter Cheryl (Eric), Grandsons: George, Jamal, Precious Granddaughter, DeSharra, Great Granddaughter, Morgan; Sister-in-laws, Doris Washington, Blanche (Albert) Mangram; Brother-in-law, James Wideman, host of nieces and nephews, Cousins in Illinois, Louisiana, California and Arizona, special friends in Illinois, Ohio and Michigan, church families of Victory Life Worship Center and New Covenant Church, Maple Park United Methodist Church and the many church acquaintances in Illinois Ohio and Michigan.
