Obituary for Willie Edward Schuler

Willie E Schuler was born in Toledo, Ohio on June 2, 1961 to the union of Charles and Bessie (Schuler) Oliver. He departed this life on Monday Nov 2, 2020 at St Luke's Hospital at the age of 59 years old. He was preceded in death by his father Charles and his oldest brother, Michael.

Willie loved the Lord Jesus Chris. He had a servant's heart and was faithfully dedicated to Cornerstone Church for over 25 years. He was always willing and happy to help his family, friends and strangers.

A 1979 graduate of Rogers High school, on April 24th, 1982 Willie married his high school sweetheart Rena (Stills) Schuler. From their union three sons—William, Justin, and Andrew—were born and loved. He also has an older son, Michael, whom he loved so very much.

Willie was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather or "Papa", as he was affectionately known, to Cameron and Caden.

He loved basketball and football and Ohio State and The San Francisco 49er's were his favorite teams. In high school, Willie played basketball and as a trophy winning track star his fast speed earned him the nickname "Shoes".

A Toledo Firefighter for 30 years, Private Willie E. Schuler so proudly performed his community duties from stations 21 and 24 until he retired in 2014.

Willie leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 38 years Rena, his sons Michael, William, Justin, and Andrew (wife Courtney and their sons Cameron and Caden), mother Bessie (Schuler) Oliver, brothers Eugene (Laramie), Lindsay, Charles (Strong) and sister Valerie Schuler.

Also mourning this loss is Willie's Uncle James Schuler and two aunts Ola V. Schuler and Carrie Lions and an enormous host of nieces, nephews, relatives and dear friends.

The family would like to thank everyone for the outpouring of love, support, and prayers as well as the many doctors, nurses, and emergency medical technicians who cared for Willie. May everyone find peace and comfort in the many wonderful memories shared with him.
