Obituary for Willie James Horton

Mr. Willie Jame Horton was called by our Lord and Savior on January 4, 2021, at the age of 68 after a courageous battle with cancer. Willie Jame Horton was born on August 6, 1952, in Birmingham, Alabama from the blessed union of Mr. Earnest Horton, Sr. and Mrs. Elizabeth Barnes-Horton, in which he was the 4th out of 11 children created from that union. Willie Jame was proceeded in death by his brother, Andrew Horton (1984), his mother, Elizabeth Barnes-Horton (1988), his father, Earnest Horton, Sr. (1992), his sister, Louise Smith (2019) and his brother Sylvester Horton, Sr. (2020).
Willie Jame attended A.G. Gaston Junior High School and Wenonah High School. During that time, he shared his talent and passion for basketball by playing for both schools. After leaving high school, Willie Jame worked for the Birmingham Coca Cola Bottling Company. In 1985, he moved to Toledo, OH and worked for the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station.
Willie Jame confessed his eternal hope in Christ at a very early age. He trusted in the Lord until he departed from this side to enter into the gates where he will rest. Willie Jame loved his family and the simplest pleasures in life brought him great joy. He was a quiet gentle warrior who enjoyed watching Sanford and Son, western movies, playing cards and spending time with his family and friends. Willie Jame was loved and will forever be missed.
Willie Jame Horton is survived by his four brothers; Theodis Horton, Earnest Horton, Jr. both of Toledo, OH, Curtis (Sandra) Horton and Kenneth Horton both of Birmingham, AL; three sisters; Earnestine Hearns of Birmingham, AL, Patricia (Hillary) Scott of Toledo, OH and Annette (Jeremiah) Peoples of Bessemer, AL; two aunts, Emma Lee Provence of Tuscaloosa, AL and Sally Lee Bryant of Birmingham, AL; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
