Obituary for Vernon Cannon

Vernon Lee Cannon was born in Toledo, Ohio on September 5, 1959 to Theodore and Ella Cannon as one of four children. Vernon departed this life on December 8, 2020. He is preceded in death by his father Theodore and brother Gregory. He was followed by his loving sister Valerie into the gates of heaven two days later.

Vernon honorably served his country in the United States Army as an Air Defense Artillery Sergeant for 8 years. Upon leaving the military, Vernon began a new a career in Toledo, Ohio with the Coke Corporation which lasted almost ten years. Finally, Vernon worked as a Water Treatment Specialist for Crown Cork and Seal, Inc for twenty-one years before retiring in 2015.

Vernon cannot easily be summarized in a few words. He enjoyed guns, travel, and cooking. Above all, he was an avid fisherman who loved life and being on his boat.

Vernon was charismatic, funny, and loved to laugh. He was always available to lend a helping hand, or kind word, when needed. Vernon was a loving father, son, brother and grandfather. He was a warrior with a tenacious spirit which he demonstrated to the end.

Vernon is survived by his mother Ella Cannon-McGuirt; brother Virgil Cannon; daughters Verna Cannon-Golemboski (Ronald) and Veronica Cannon-Oden; grand-children Kayla, Jada, Jordan, and Erik; significant other Yolanda Emery and a host of other family members and friends.
