Obituary for Valerie Star Jones

Valerie Star Jones was born in Toledo, Ohio on March 18, 1956. She was the eldest of four children. Preceded in death by her father, Theodore Cannon. Valerie quietly departed this life on December 10, 2020. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Gregory Cannon (2018) and her brother Vernon Cannon who passed just two days prior on December 8, 2020.

She was educated in the Toledo Public School system, proudly graduating from Joseph S. Scott High School. Soon after high school, she was married to Jesse Morgan. Their union produced a baby girl, LaShawna Caprice Morgan. Soon after LaShawna’s birth, Jesse passed away from a brief illness. Valerie was a committed, dedicated and devoted mother who cherished and loved her daughter. While being a single mother and working, she entered community college taking courses in Accounting. After attending classes at UT Community College, she worked for Key Bank for many years before landing roles in sales for organizations such as Channel 13 abc and WTVG Channel 11 before deciding to retire in 2018.

While being a proud mother and grandmother, she was a devoted wife to Charles Jones who she married on October 24, 1998 and she affectionally called “Hunny Bunny”. Her love for Charles was unmatched and they lived a happy life together until the end.

Valerie loved hard and gave the best hugs. She had such a warm spirit and her smile it made you feel welcomed in all situations. She loved her family so deeply and would lend a helping hand anytime they needed it. She regularly cared for her mother (Ella McGuirt) and was devoted to her health and care. Valerie loved to travel and would often talk about the fond memory of a trip to Hawaii for her niece’s wedding.

Valerie is survived by her mother, Ella McGuirt; brother Virgil Cannon; daughter LaShawna Morgan; bonus daughter; Tenaj (Lesley) Jones; bonus son; Che` (Dionne) Jones both bonus children in New Orleans LA. Grandchildren; Noah Grant, D`von (Brianna) Jones, Ja`von Jones, Chelynn Jones, Bomani Jackson, Bajah Jackson, Zyon Jones, Ramon Jones. Also, great grandchild, Charlie Jones. In addition to several nieces and nephews as well as a host of other family members and friends.
