Obituary for Tyrone Leslie Pope

Tyrone L. Pope (aka “T”) departed this life peacefully and went home to be with the Lord on June 7, 2021, while being surrounded by his family. He was a devoted father who loved his family and close friends. Tyrone professed his faith in God at an early age and attended Indiana Avenue Baptist Church.
Tyrone was born to the late Roosevelt Sr. and Mattie Pope, in Theodore, AL on August 21, 1959. He graduated from Roberts S. Rogers High School in 1978 with a concentration in general studies. His 25+ year career in janitorial services included several supervisory and crew leader positions with Toledo Building Services, American Metal Cleaners, and W.L. Pope Interiors.

Tyrone was blessed with his daughters, Grace and Kamisha Reese, son Reggie Reese, daughter-in-love, Jennifer Thomas, Goddaughter Quise Edwards and many extended family members which included his longtime companion and wife, Vanessa Pope. He was a dedicated father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend.

Tyrone was a fun loving, cool dude. Some of his most memorable sayings were, “I’ll be right back.” and “Going to see a man about a dog.”, whenever he was going to bend some corners and make connections with his good friends. He was always ready to dress for the occasion. He was the life of the party and enjoyed good food (including anything sweet), good music, and spreading laughter.

Tyrone is survived by his children and wife (mentioned above); sister Elois Jamison; brothers Glen Williams (Delores), Roosevelt Pope Jr., Wayne Pope (Stacey), Clyde Pope (Annette), John Pope (Liz), Ronnie Pope Sr. (Jackie), and Dewayne Frazier (Marquisa); grandchildren Jesse Thomas, Jaiveon Reese, and Eunique Rayford and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends. He is preceded in death by his mother, father, and best friend Jeff Edwards.

All are welcomed to attend and celebrate Tyrone’s life. The funeral is scheduled on June 19, 2021 (Reverend James Savage, Officiating Minister). The repast will follow (location to be announced). Flowers and condolences may be sent to the House of Day, 2550 Nebraska Ave, Toledo, OH 43607.
