Obituary for Toyce Cherry (Cherry)

Toyce “Toy” Chery was born on, December 4, 1950, in Toledo, Ohio, to the union of John and Berniece
White. “Toy” made her transition, surround by her loving family, on January 26, 2023, at the age of 72.

Toyce attended Toledo Public Schools and was a 1968 graduate of Libbey High School. Toyce was
employed with Jeep for over 30 years when she retired. She accepted Christ at an early age. “Toy” was
raised in St. Paul Baptist Church and was a lifelong member. She enjoyed working in the church serving
on the Usher Board, supervisor of the Jr. Usher Board, a member of Circle 1 now known as Ruth’s Circle
and a member of the choir.

Family and Friends were everything to “Toy”. She never knew a stranger and enjoyed cooking and
entertaining friends and family and their enjoyed her cooking, especially her fried chicken. “Toy” was a
fierce competitor on the card table and knew how to talk trash. She really was a giver of love,
reassurance, and guidance. If she had it - you had it. But let the record show, she did not mince her
words, she would tell you the way she saw it and meant just what she said. She enjoyed her plants,
peace lilies and roses were her favorites and she was a collector of angels.

The Joys of her life were her two children, Frank who was the eldest who she affectionately referred to
as her baby and Traci who she called her black China Doll.

Toyce “Toy” Cherry leaves to cherish her memory, her loving partner of 33 years Curry Williams; her son,
Frank E. (Paris) Cherry, Jr.; daughter, Traci E. (James) Hairston; Grandchildren, Monay E. Cherry, Traivon
T. Cherry, Jalan Cherry-Washington, Christian A. Cherry and Landyn Cherry-Middlebrooks; Great
grandchildren, Maverick and Trevor Cherry; brothers, Alonzo Wright and Lonnie White; sister, Shirley
Carter; bonus daughter, Tamika Mitchell; best friends Cynthia Neal, Dawn Cordland; former husband Frank
Cherry Sr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and her beloved church family at St Paul
