Obituary for Tonia M. Smith-Bates

Tonia M. Smith Bates was born October 7, 1961 to R.D. Tucker and Tonna Armstrong (Morphis).

Mrs. Tonia M. Bates 59 was called home on December 13, 2020 to be with the Lord. Her works for the Lord here on earth is completed. The world lost an amazing great talented woman who will be dearly missed in which God had other plans, so he called his daughter home to be with him. God gained a great soldier instead of being in sorrow have a heart of glee knowing she is with the Lord thy God.

Mrs. Bates attended Jesup W. Scott High School where she met and exceeded all academic requirements. She became a family woman early in life and devoted herself to her children and family. You know you was in her family if you got put out her home at least once. She was a woman of strong Faith in the Lord. Tonia was an incredibly positive, spiritual warm-hearted woman whom presence will be dearly missed by many.

Mrs. Bates preceded in death husband Richard Bates, Father R.D. Tucker Jr., Son James Smith Sr., Grandson James Smith Jr., Brother Derrick Tucker, Grandparents Violet Jordan, Thelma Tucker, and R.D. Tucker Sr. and a host of family and friends.

She leaves to carry on her legacy, daughter Latreese (Louis) Williams, son Floyd (Deanna) Barton Jr. Sisters Tina Alexander, Trina (Alex) Pickens, Trella Green and Terry Tucker. Brothers Richard Tucker, Louis (Latoya) Green, Joseph Green, R.D. Tucker 3rd, and a host more siblings not listed. Grandchildren Damion (Charlesa) Tall Jr., Christopher Smith Jr. (KeiAjah Miller), Aysa Tolliver, Gaven Huckleberry, Jayla Smith, Tonna Buchanan, Floyd Buchanan, Da’Jour Buchanan, Dashonia Barton, Mar’Tavion Barton, Ke’Marion Barton, Cie’Arra Barton, Lloyd Barton, Jamie Barton, Jayceon Barton, Julie Barton, Julius Barton, Sharon Barton, Laron Starks, Dai’Brielle Ellis, DaiLenn Ellis, Mason Moore. Great grandchildren Kaniya Smith.

Also left to deeply mourn her memory, close friend Qunnies Fitch and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and loving family and friends.
