Sidney Armstead 87, of Toledo, Ohio passed away with his family by his side on March 20,2021.
Sidney was born in Whatley, Alabama on September 25,1933 to Tommie and Louisa Robinson-Armstead. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Lionel Armstead, brothers Clinton and Tommie Armstead, and Willie Bob Gwin, and sisters Nettie Lou James and Bessie Lee Franklin.
Surviving are his loving wife of over 60 years Cleretta Armstead, daughter Ella, son, Sidney, brother Vivian (Queen) and daughter in-laws, Deborah and Joeann Armstead.
Sidney leaves behind his grandchildren Elesha (Donnell), Lionel (Sarah), Myah, Niesha, Sidney (Nikki) Michael, Mario and 8 great grandchildren, Taylor, Tamyah, Jercardo, Trysten, Brooklyn, Er'mere, Mar'Yhonna and Sidney III. and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, honorary grandchildren and friends.
Sidney retired from Champion Spark Plug after 30 years of service. He came to know the Lord in 1999 where he was a faithful member at the Anchor Missionary Baptist Church under Pastor Eugene Rocker until his health began to fail. Sidney enjoyed reading his Bible, gardening, walking, spending time with his grand and great grandchildren, playing his guitar and harmonica. There wasn't a person that he didn't make as a friend. He was well known in the community, and made an impact on everyone he met. You could always find him walking sporting his walking stick, signature suspenders and blue jeans. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
