Sheila Lorraine Thomas Saunders, age 70 of Swanton, OH, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday April 19, 2020. Born on August 9, 1949 in Toledo, OH, she is predeceased by her parents, John Lawrence Thomas and Wilma Geneva Robinson Thomas.

Sheila was the sixth eldest child out of ten and was raised in Swanton, OH with her siblings: *Richard L. Thomas (*Dorothy), *Carol F. Lothery (Melvin), Charlotte A. Westley (*Curtis), Michael C. Thomas (Gladys), Sondra M. Thomas, Pamela L. Dabon (Lenard), Donald E. Thomas (*Carsino), Donna E. Walker (Terry), and James W. Thomas (Deborah). She was wed in holy matrimony to the late Jeremiah Saunders, and from that union they were blessed with four children.

She graduated from Spencer Sharples High School in Holland, OH. She once worked in the administrative department of the Toledo courthouse, but her passion was entrepreneurship, and she was the proud owner of a few curio shops and one in particular called, “Sheila’s Silk ‘N Stuff,” where she refurbished furniture. She loved a good garage sale and if she wasn’t holding one then she was visiting one.

Sheila was a beloved daughter, and loved the Lord Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. On any given day you would find her praying over her family and singing praises to God. She was a former member of Cornerstone Church of Maumee, OH and a faithful member of Jimmy Swaggart Ministries. She was an excellent daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend. She loved her family unconditionally, and loved to sing, dance, roller skate, refurbish furniture, interior design, design clothes and furniture for her dolls, play bingo, and do yard work. Sheila loved to sing solo, with her sisters’ singing group “Backdraft,” and performed throughout Ohio, Michigan, and Illinois as a duo with her sister Sondra. Her sense of humor and wit always uplifted gatherings where she was present. For those who knew Sheila, she was a fashionista who never left the house without her makeup on or being impeccably dressed.

She is survived by her children Gerald L. Saunders (Tonia), Pamela M. Saunders, Spencer D. Saunders (Yolanda), and Demond L. Saunders (Pauline), seven siblings, fourteen grandchildren (Eriel, Starr, Isiah, Spencer Jr., Jocelynn, Trevor, Aushila, Christopher, Ethan, Ryan, Kennedy, Septembre, Alissondra, and Jordan), one great grandchild, one aunt (Jean Robinson), a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and a community that loved her dearly.

A service celebrating her life will be streamed online on Saturday April 25, 2020, at 2pm ET. In lieu of a repast, the family will gather at a predetermined time in the future to celebrate the life of our beloved Sheila Saunders together.
