Obituary

Mr. Shawn E. Daniels was born on January 30, 1957 in Toledo, OH to William “Bill” Daniels and Francella (Williams) Daniels. He was the sixth born of eight children. Shawn was a graduate of Calvin M. Woodward High School class of 1976 where he was a star football player who played various positions to include receiver and running back. Shawn played a major role in winning the 1975-1976 Championship Shoe Bowl game by scoring the winning touchdown! After high school Shawn served his country by enlisting in the United States Army.

In Shawn’s most recent years he attended Word of Faith International Christian Center in Southfield, MI. He was dedicated to his job as a project manager for Family Dollar Corporate Office where he traveled the country to oversee the set up of new stores. In his off time he was still an avid football fan. Anyone who knew him knew that he was The Ohio State Buckeyes #1 fan and he stuck by his Detroit Lions to the end. He also loved basketball and was a lifetime Los Angeles Lakers fan. Outside of sports Shawn loved listening to smooth jazz, hanging with friends and family, and always loved to dress to impress! Most of all he loved his children and grandchildren with all his heart and would give anything to spend more time with them. Shawn went home to be with the Lord his Savior on February 08, 2020.

Shawn was preceeded in death by his father William E. Daniels, mother Francella (Williams) Daniels, grandmothers Leona Daniels and Mammie L. Williams, siblings Victoria Hunt, Phyllis Pickle, and Steve Bell and 1 grandchild. He leaves to cherish his memory his children Le’Kreshia “Nikki” (Antwan) Stanfield of Jacksonville, FL, Kristina Neal, Ashley Daniels, TreiVon Daniels, Shawn A. Daniels, Kiarra Daniels, and Joshua Daniels of Gilbert, AZ, siblings Ronald Williams, Deborah Saunders, Sheila (Marion) Daniels-Bell and Fredrick Daniels, 16 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.

Am in shock. Three of my former b-ball this players passed away this month , Ralph Barnes, Ken Pettaway, and Shawn Daniels a wonderful 'kid' to teach. He went on to WHS an became a football standout. I was Shawn's teacher at Hamilton/Levrrette. Its not fair that 28 of my 'formers' have passed. God works in strange ways. RIP Shawn. Fred Cohen

To the Daniel Family you have my continued prayers and condolences on the losing of your love one Shawn Daniels. He was a smooth operator, and a Mac Daddy. I remember the first time I met Shawn, he had on a pin stripped suit, the and his shoes were so shiny; I could see my face in them. Dressed to kill, he was always so nice and kind to me, welcoming me into the William's/Daniels Family. Shawn you ran your race I pray you ran it well, looking forward to seeing you at the Lamb Supper table when the Saints come marching in. R.I.P.
