Obituary for Samuel Lorenzo Johnson Jr.

Samuel L. Johnson, 84 of Toledo Ohio, entered into God's Kingdom on April 14th ,2023. He was born on December 20th 1938 in Pocahontas, Virginia to his parents Margaret (Lockett) and Samuel L. Johnson Sr. Samuel was baptized at a very young age on Easter Sunday morning at First Baptist Church in Pocahontas Virginia, and was a member of the church for many years. Samuel was a graduate of Tazewell County High School in Bluefield, Virginia Class of 1956. After completing high school, he enlisted in the United States Army, serving our country and was Honorably Discharged. After Serving in the military, Samuel drove many miles as a truck driver for Carolina Trucking Company, and retired after 29 years of service.

Samuel loved spending time with his family, traveling , fishing with his friends and also would share his "catch" with his buddies. We all remember how he had a love for nice cars. Each vehicle he owned was immaculate, and he took pride in each one of them.He was always well put together "in style" with his clothing. He loved to look sharp and always smelled fresh and clean. He had a smile that would light up the room, and if music was playing, he was not shy on the dance floor.

Samuel was the most loving and devoted husband, brother, father, and grandfather. Preceded in death by his parents Samuel and Margaret Johnson, wife Helen Johnson, brother Thomas Johnson, sister Maxine Johnson, and daughter Sandra Denise Johnson. He is survived by his sister Reoma Peery (Reece) , son's Samuel III, Thomas Johnson and a host of numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
