Obituary for Sammie Lee Larkett
Sammie Lee Larkett, passed away Sunday, June 14, 2020, at the age of 66. He was born in Demopolis, Alabama, on September 28, 1953, to the union of, Willie T. and Cassie Mae Larkett.
He moved to Toledo, Ohio, when he was two years old with his parents, where he attended Roosevelt School, Lincoln, and Scott High School. Sam was a phenomenal Boxer in his day, an inspiration to many and helped rear in that competitive skilled sport. He was a superb high dive swimmer, an exceptional artist, an avid reader, a great listener, and a groove master on roller skates.
Sam held various jobs in brick masonry, but his passion was people, his family relatives, close friends, and cousins taken all to the heart. Sam was brilliant, knowledgeable, self-taught, and naturally gifted, in countless arts by grace.
Sam was preceded in death by his father, Willie T. Larkett; brother, Thomas; sisters, Anne Louise, and Ethel Pearl Larkett.
He is survived by his two children, Donyell and Alonda; mother, Cassie Mae Larkett Murphy; sister, Patricia Ann; brothers, Willie T. (Mary) Jr., Gregory, and David Larkett; three grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and a host of cousins and dear friends.
