Obituary for Sallie Lee Lewis

We are gathered here today to celebrate the life & mourn the passing of Sallie Lee Lewis. Born on July 1, 1938 in Newbern Alabama to David "Boe" Williams & Henrietta (Ret) Dunn Williams. Being the eldest girl, she was strong willed and very outspoken. So, if she had an opinion, you would know it. She had eight siblings John (Emma), Henrietta, Emma (Henry), Annie, Fannie (Johnny), Ethel, David (Rosemary) & Jimmie (Celeste).

In June of 1958 she & her sister Henrietta left Alabama for Kentucky. One month later they had their cousin Lovell drive them to Toledo, OH to stay with their aunt Ethel. The way she told the story is it was all her idea. While here she met a man named Paul Lewis. They married & then had four children Paul Lewis Jr., Benjamin Lewis, Joseph "Joe" Lewis & Joanne (Manuel).

She worked & retired from Hunt's Weston then worked at Maumee Day Daycare & volunteered. She loved teaching & one of the many things she did was teach her great-grandson Lake how to spell his last name & he's never misspelled it since. She has several grandchildren Daryl Sr. (Victoria), Derek, Tanisha, Latrice (Tony), Latesha, Lapaula and Lakisha. Twelve great-grandchildren Daryl Jr., Daryion, Darontae, Raquan, Arie, La'Naysia, Lake, Lavon, Joleeah, Tremaine, Jazmyne & Darren. She had a total of 39 nieces and nephews also many grand & great-grand nieces and nephews. In passing she will be joining her parents: David & Henrietta. Son: Joseph Lewis. Brothers: John, David, & Jimmie. Sister: Emma. Nephews: Nathan, Alfred, Curtis Williams & Curtis Bates. Nieces: Annie & Denise & Great-grandchildren: La'Naysia & Lavon.
