Obituary for Sadie Dunlap-Winch

On December 4, 1952 the sun shined as the world welcomed Sadie Carter into the world. Sadie was the first living daughter of Mary Carter & Willie Hardy. She was born in Tyler Alabama( (rural area of Selma Alabama).
She attended school in Alabama up to the fifth grade when the entire family moved to Toledo where she completed her education at Glenwood Elementary and Scott High School. She was a professional CNA at the Merrit house for 20 years until her failing health caused her to retire.

Sadie married Leopolda Dunlap in 1979 and he proceeded her in death at the early age of 31 in the early eighties. Sadie raised three of her grandchildren after Leopolda's passing. She was also preceded in death by her mom; Mary Crosby, Father; Cleveland Crosby, biological father; Willie Hardy, brothers Paul Crosby, Steven Crosby, Andrew Carter, Robert Carter and niece; Ladonna Crosby.

She was widow for 18 years until she met her new soul mate and best friend Jeffery Winch. Sadie often would say "I wish that I would have met and married Jeff sooner". She and Jeff enjoyed over twenty years of happiness.

Sadie had a green thumb beyond belief and it showed in her garden. She loved gardening, canning and sharing the fruits of her labor. Sadie and Jeff loved feeding people. She was so very proud of her home, her plants that reached the ceiling and enjoyed entertaining her guest by the pond in her back yard.

Sadie made her transition in the arms of her loving husband Jeff surrounded by her family on Saturday April 3, 2021.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband; Jeffery G. Winch, children; Sandra Hardy, Vincent Hardy, Leopoldo Dunlap and Shannon Dunlap, brother; Willie J. Carter, Eugene (Niecsie) Hardy. Arthur "Terry" ( Knetta) Crosby, Cleveland Crosby Jr., sisters; Shirley (Marvin) Grant, Lillian "Christine" Hardy, Debra ( Eld Charles) Scott, Dorothy (Layvor) Rodger and Maryann Crosby, 14 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and Aunt; Freddie Davis
