Obituary for Rehonna Evone Brooks

Rehonna Evone Brooks, 40, of Columbus, Ohio, was born on, October 3, 1979, in Toledo, Ohio, to James and Delores (Walker) Brooks. She departed this life on, July 14, 2020, in Columbus, Ohio, to be with her Heavenly Father.

Rehonna attended and graduated Jesus W. Scott High School. She continued her undergraduate education at Fayetteville State University. While at Fayetteville, she became a charter member of Pi Sigma Alpha - National Political Science Honor Society. She then pursued her passion for higher learning at Ohio State University, where she earned a Master's Degree in Public Policy Administration/Social Work. Rehonna was passionate about her career and she enjoyed helping others. At the time of her passing, Rehonna was employed by Columbus Community Housing Network, working with special needs adults. She was a fierce advocate for her clients.

"Ms. Ree" as we so often lovingly referred to her, as was a new Mom and was experiencing all of the joys and challenges that came with that new role in her life.

Rehonna loved her family and friends and she loved the Lord. She was very comfortable around her cousins, who substituted as siblings for her since she was an only child. Holidays and special occassions were events, she looked forward to as there were times when family members and friends gathered together to share love, food and plenty of fun.

Rehonna was preceded in death by her mother, Delores Hunt and stepfather, Eddie Hunt.

Surviving her memory are daughter, Rias Gilliam; grandmother, Bishop Johnnie M. Walker; aunt, Jawonia (Earnest) Morton; her beloved cousins, friends, Dawn, Shondria, and Jerron; special friend, Steven Gilliam and a host of other family and friends.

Services will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2020, at 12pm, at Historic Woodlawn Cemetery.
