Obituary for Raymond D. Arrington

Raymond (Ray) D. Arrington, Sr., passed away on February 12, 2020. He was number 5 of 2 siblings and was born March 20, 1954 to the union of Robert and Grace Arrington (deceased). He is preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, niece, Chayla and nephew, Sha'qui.

Raymond went to grade school at Pickett Elementary and high school at Libbey then transferred to DeVilbiss High School. Raymond was a good friend to many of the families he grew up with and continued to stay in touch with many of them, to his credit. He was very athletic and loved all sports. He played football and basketball. He also coached little kids in basketball. He was always a healthy eater, but he had a sweet tooth. He did love his sweets, but he made up for it by working out almost everyday. In late 1999-2000, he taught aerobic classes. A couple of sisters tried to work out with him and found Raymond to be a hard task master and they soon quit. Raymond was a very soft-spoken person. It was very rare for him to raise his voice, except for when he was coaching or when training people. Raymond was employed by Libby Glass Company of Toledo, from 1973 and retired in 2016 after 43 years of service.

He is survived by his special love of many years, Tonia Taylor; his son, Raymond (Ray) D. Arrington, II; daughter, Deta Hayes; grandchildren, Tierra Mason, Trevon Mason, Raymond (Ray) D. Arrington, III, and Tristan Page, (Toledo, OH); siblings, Carmen (John) Wright, Sr., Toledo, OH, Robert (Vanetta) Arrington, III, (Tuscan, AZ), Barbara (Richard) Jenrett, Las Vegas, NV, Michele Denise Arrington, Tucson, AZ, Richard (Debra) Arrington, Sr., (Columbus, OH), Lorraine (Robert) Cannon, (Toledo, OH), Rodney (Pamela) Arrington, (Phoenix, AZ), Reginald Arrington, Sr., Tracy Alison-Arrington, Randolph P. (Anne Jean) Arrington, and Lisa Arrington, all of Toledo, OH, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, special cousins from Cleveland, Columbus, and Akron, OH, and other relatives and friends.
