Mrs. Patricia Elizabeth Horton-Scott was call by our Lord and Savior at the age of 64, On April 11, 2021. Patricia Elizabeth Horton-Scott was born February 27, 1957 in Birmingham, Alabama from the blessed union of Mr. Earnest Horton Sr. & Mrs. Elizabeth Barnes-Horton, in which she was the 7th out of 11 children created from that union. Patricia was preceded in death by her brother, Andrew Horton (1984), her mother, Elizabeth Barnes-Horton (1988), her father, Earnest Horton Sr. (1992), her granddaughter, Victoria Jones (1997), her sister, Louise Smith (2019), her brothers, Sylvester Horton, Sr. (2020) and Willie Jame Horton (2021).
Patricia Elizabeth Horton-Scott attended A.G. Gaston Junior High and Wenonah High School in 1975. After leaving Alabama, Patricia made her way to Toledo, Ohio, in which she made a fresh start in a new city with her big sister, Louise Smith. During her journey, she met her husband, had four children, nine grandchildren, one great-grandson and found a life of love and success. Patricia worked for Chrysler Jeep for twenty-two years, while managing to be a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, active member of Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church (various committees) and Mason Eastern Star.
Patricia Elizabeth Scott loved her family with a fierceness that was hard to match. Patricia was a woman of God that was full of compassion and believed in being there for those she loved; good or bad. Patricia’s smile was always bright and uplifting and when captured on camera it seemed immortal. Patricia loved singing, dancing, cooking, walking the park/neighborhood and traveling, but even more than that; she loved being surrounded by those she loved. If there was an adventure or celebration, Patricia was first in line with a camera ready to capture the moment. Patricia loved life and the adventures that came with it. Patricia was the glue and foundation that made the family whole. Patricia Elizabeth Scott was everything and so much more.
Patricia Elizabeth Scott is survived by her devoted husband of over 40 years, Hillary E Scott, four children, Angela (Odell) Harris, Richard (Sheri) Scott, Hilary (Ronnie) Scott and Bryant Scott, all of Toledo, OH; eight grandchildren, DeVonte’ Banks, Darnell Jones, Vanessa Jones, Mariah Conner, Ashlynn Edgecomb, Lyric Scurles, Arya Scott, Syncere Scurles; one great-grandson, DeVonte’ Banks, Jr.; four brothers; Theodis Horton, Earnest Horton, Jr. both of Toledo, OH, Curtis (Sandra) Horton and Kenneth Horton both of Birmingham, AL; two sisters; Earnestine Hearns of Birmingham, AL, Annette (Jeremiah) Peoples of Bessemer, AL; two aunts, Emma Lee Provence of Tuscaloosa, AL Sally Lee Bryant of Birmingham, AL; and a special friend Brenda Royster, of Toledo, OH along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
