Bishop M.C McGhee was born October 24, 1943 to Manuel and Arnes McGhee in Calion, Arkansas. He confessed a hope in Christ at a young age. He excelled in basketball and baseball.
Bishop McGhee moved to Toledo, Ohio in 1974 and joined the Losalem Baptist Church where he met the love of his life Lady Erma McGhee. On May 27, 1978, they were united in holy matrimony. After 42 years together, he would still say, “ain’t no women like the one I got.” He was ordained into the ministry October 1980. In March1996, he became Founder and Lead Pastor of Serenity Church. In October 2005, he was consecrated as a Bishop
Bishop McGhee was known for dressing sharp, smelling good, and for dancing unashamedly for the Lord. He always had a word of encouragement for everyone and he was never hesitant to help anyone in need. He was always willing to give of his time, talent, and money for the cause of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Arnes McGhee; brothers, LG Pumphrey, OB Pumphrey, Prentis McGhee, Cleo McGhee, Calvin McGhee, Jacob McGhee, OD McGhee, and sister Allie Mae Belin.
He leaves to cherish his memories; his wife, Erma McGhee; brother, Emanuel (Judy) McGhee; three sons, Michael McGhee, Apostle Herman (Debra) McCardell, Deon Archie; four daughters, Dorethea Reynolds, Princess (Wayne) Ellis, Shanika Powell, Kira Sayles; 25 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, and many other relatives, Special friend and sister Mary Dabbs, countless colleagues, friends and associates.
