Obituary for Marion Darden

In Loving Memory…

Marion Darden was born on August 19, 1930, to Charles and Roma Boyd in Toledo, Ohio, and had one sibling, Charles Boyd (Junior). Marion’s two greatest passions were serving as an active member of the Walk the Word and Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church and as a talented designer and seamstress, starting from a very young age.

Marion loved to create beautiful ensembles for herself, friends, family, grandchildren and members of the Church and Toledo community. She designed stunning outfits and wardrobes – from choir robes, wedding and bridesmaid dresses, to hats, shoes and handbags, in record time. She also served as the Choir Director for Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church for several years.

She was the wife of Raymond Darden and beloved mother to Richard, Roma and John.

She is survived by her son John (Mary); Julian; stepdaughters Deborah, Brenda, Charlene, Sandra, Alina, and Karen; grandchildren Ilya, Eric (Tracy), John, Afton and Ashlee; great-grandchildren Kira, Nya, Anden, Leo, Collins and Roman; sister-in-law Marian Boyd; nephews William, Lawrence, niece Regina, aunts Franky G., Dorothy M. and a host of family and friends.

She was proceeded in death by her husband Ray Darden, son Richard, daughter Roma, and granddaughter Deandrea.

We’d like to give special thanks to Denise, Rosemary, Kalvin, as well as friends, family and the church community who have cared for and supported Marion over the past several years.
