Lillian Paulette Harris, 70, went home to be with the Lord on January 3, 2020, at Hospice of Northwest of Ohio. She was born to the late Charley Arthur Franklin and Bessie Mae Franklin on January 30, 1949 in St. Charles, Illinois. She was affectionally known as “Polly” to her family and friends. She professed her belief in Christ at an early age and was baptized by Reverend Joseph Smith and became a member of St. Paul Baptist Church. Her love of the Lord was a guiding theme in her life. She was a member of various churches until her health failed. She was a 1967 graduate of Jesup W. Scott High School where she sung in the Symphonic Choir and played the violin in the orchestra. She was a true lover of music, especially gospel music. After high school, Lillian held the positions of nurse’s aide, ward secretary, respiratory technician, and surgical technician at various hospitals in Toledo, Ohio. Lillian loved working with people and in all areas of the medical profession and social service. For many years she worked at Planned Parenthood and as a consumer advocate at Advocates for Basic Legal Equality, Inc. (ABLE). Following this she held a position at Neighborhood Properties.

With every challenge in her life, her Christian faith grew stronger and when she was able, she loved attending church services and participating in activities where she could be of help to others. Lillian spent her last months in the care of Glendale Assisted Living, Toledo, Ohio and Genacross Lutheran Services, Wolf Creek Campus, Holland, Ohio.

She leaves to cherish her memory 2 sons, Ralph Edward (Jackie) Harris, Jr. of Phoenix, AZ and Carl Jayson Harris of Toledo, OH; sister, Harriet Allen of Columbus, OH; goddaughter, Deborah Nutt of Atlanta, GA; niece, Aisha Allen of Columbus, Ohio; and a host of cousins, aunts, uncles, and dear friends.
