Obituary

On Sunday, June 28, 2020 Leroy Edwards, Sr. transitioned this life at the age of 78. Leroy was born to the union of Isaiah Edwards, Sr. and Eddie Weese- Edwards. on February 12, 1942 in Georgiana, Alabama. He was he seventh child of fourteen.

Leroy married the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Doris Hall, on October 11,1962. Leroy and Doris moved from Alabama to Florida to Maryland and finally to Toledo where he planted his roots. Leroy began his career and Ford Motor Company in 1970 where he was employed for 32 years and happily retired in 2002.

Leroy and Doris are the proud parents of four children, Sharlon, Leroy Jr. (Alecia), Tyrone (Natalie), and Willia (Marlon) Betts, 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Leroy loved the Lord. He was a spiritual God fearing man who instilled the word of the Lord in his children. He would often say "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." Leroy was a charter member of the Northwestern Missionary Church, where he diligently served as chairman of the deacon board and a member of the choir. He was a great devotional leader who loved to sing and pray.

Leroy loved his family with all of his heart and would do anything for any of them from his wife, all the way down to his great grandchildren. He enjoyed traveling with his family and getting everyone together for the best barbecued ribs this side of the Mason-Dixon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Isaiah Edwards, Sr. and Eddie Weese- Edwards. He leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife of 57 years, Doris, who stood by his side until the very end; his children, Sharlon, Leroy Jr. (Alecia), Tyrone (Natalie), and Willia (Marlon) Betts; sister, Edna Edwards; brother, Eddie Edwards; grandchildren, great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, church family, and friends.
