Karen Lynn “Boogaloo” Johnson died peacefully in Hospice of NWO on 9/27/2020 in Toledo, Ohio at the age of 56.
Karen was proceeded in death by her parents, Roberta and Alfonso Johnson of Toledo, Ohio; siblings, Denise Wright, Wanda Williams, Tyrone Johnson of Toledo, Ohio.
Karen was born on March 26, 1964 in Toledo, Ohio to Alfonso and Roberta Johnson. She graduated from Scott High School in 1982. She is survived by her children, Andre (Antoinette) Foster, Adrian Foster, Antwain (Ashley) Foster. Her siblings, Debra Johnson, Kevin (Myrtle) Johnson, Philip (Patricia) Johnson, Steven (Lashay) Johnson, and Christine (Renarda) Shumpert. 18 grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Her children will always remember her as a down-to-earth mother who spoke her mind and didn’t care who it was. She encouraged them to pursue their goals, take care of their families, and for them to stick together no matter what.
Karen was gifted with an amazing voice and often encouraged her family to use their talent. She was a humorous individual who loved to have fun, she had a green thumb and loved to care for her plants, collected black figurines and she loved her double cheeseburgers from McDonald’s. She was an active and dedicated member of the Lagrange Library Book Club who was passionate about reading African American books.
The funeral is scheduled for Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at Second Baptist Church, with a reception to follow. Pastor Jerry Boose will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Karen’s life. The family would like to thank Hospice of NWO, and all of the family and friends who helped her during her time of need.
