Obituary for Joseph L. Schley
Joseph L. Schley was called home to be with the Lord March 28, 2021. Joe was born to the union of Seaborn Schley and Lessie Williams. Joe was the fourth of 13 children.
He worked for Howard Johnson as a cook, then Kaiser Jeep where he was employed for 30 years. Joe was a 32nd Degree Mason, Trustee, Choir at St. Paul Baptist Church, American Baptist Men. Joe loved fishing gardening, and cooking.
Joe leaves to cherish his loving memory, his wife, Mildred Schley, of 54 years; six loving children, Martin L. Schley (Michelle), Joseph C. Schley, Darrell L. Scott, Darlene Dunbar, Berechee Turner, Edward Scott; three step-children from a previous union, Terry (Maxine) Bryant, Beverly Lyles and Ricardo Bryant; nine grandchildren; twenty three great grandchildren; and two surviving sisters, Anette and Dorothy, and a host of extended family.
Funeral services are Friday April 2, 2021, 12 noon preceded by 11am wake at St. Paul Baptist Church 1502 N. Detroit. Due to COVID-19 social distancing will be applied.
