Obituary for Johnnie Rayford

Johnnie Mae was born on November 4, 1942 to H.N. Wilson Sr. and Callie Wilson in Tchula, MS. She was the 2nd born child of her parent’s union.

While attending Jesup W. Scott High School, Johnnie Mae developed a love of sewing, which can still be seen in the beautiful creations throughout her home.

Johnnie Mae had two children Dana and Symone Wilson from a previous relationship with Tyrone Wilson prior to meeting and marrying James Rayford Jr. on November 28, 1969. Their son Dorian was born of this union.

With an eye for fashion and design, Johnnie Mae was known for always dressing to empress! When she was out and about, you could best believe her outfit would only pale in comparison to her beautiful smile! Her creativity and style could also be seen in the ceramics she created. For some time, she was so immersed in her craft she bought her own in-home kiln in order to create her exquisite ceramic works of art! Johnnie Mae also loved to be around family and friends and would often have house parties well into the night laughing, playing cards and listening to music. Her spirit will truly be missed.
She leaves to cherish her loving Husband of 50 years James Arthur Rayford Jr., two sons Dana Wilson (Vonda) and Dorian Rayford (Shannon) her beloved Daughter Symone “Tweetie” Wilson, Three Brothers Rev. Gary Wilson (Annie), Robert L. Wilson, Crawford Wilson, Three Sisters Annie Moore, Lizzie Goodman, Aundrae Wilson, 11 Grandchildren, 19 Great Grandchildren and a host of Cousins, Nephews, Nieces and Friends.

Johnnie Mae was preceded in death by her Father H.N. Wilson Sr., Mother Callie Wilson, Brothers Isaiah Hollins, Nate Wilson, Jesse Wilson, John Wilson, H.N. Wilson Jr., and Sisters Bonnie Wilson, and Dorothy Embry.
