Obituary for Joe Edward Martin

Joe E. Martin was born in Winchester, Arkansas on January 13, 1947 to the union of David Martin and Bernice (Glass) Martin. He was preceded in death by his son; Joe Martin.
Joe attended Jesup W, Scott High School ("Go Bulldog"). He received his GED and graduated from Stautzenburger College, Toledo, Ohio. Joe was a faithful member of the church of Christ, Pastor S. Weems. Joe was a friendly kind hearted person; he enjoyed people and was always willing to help anyone.
He always catered to the seniors making sure they had a meal and he was his mother's right hand person. Any time you needed a ride "just call Joe" he became known as the taxi cabdriver.
Joe worked for the Pepsi Company for a number of years. He was a skilled carpenter and had many talents. He was gifted in the Art, self taught. His art talent was discovered when he was right years old.by his teacher at Gunckle Park Elementary School, Toledo, Ohio. His teacher was so impressed with artistic abilities that she requested the school to him the Toledo Art Museum for art classes.
Joes hands was like magic, a talented artist , using a paint brush, creating masterpieces of art on canvas putting his heart and soul into his paintings. He was a story teller with his art and if you looked at his art, it would take you on a journey,
If you saw a building with beautiful art on it, you would never know that it could be Joe's work of art. He was humble and never bragged about how good of an artist he was.
Joe was a star baseball player and he also enjoyed playing basketball. He loved music and you could see his love for music in his artwork.
He leaves to cherish his memory, father; David Martin, mother; Bernice GilChrist, brother; Larry GilChrist (Suzette), sister; Kathy Pryor, sons; Rodney G. Martin, Joseph Martin (Hannah), daughters; Lewanda Martin, Janee Martin, Mylinda Martin, and Sharita Martin, all of Toledo, OH, 15 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and other family and friends
