Obituary for Jeffory Wayne Thames

Jeffory Wayne Thames, known by many as “Wolfman”, went home to be with the Lord on May 26, 2021 in Columbus, Ohio and is now at rest. Jeffory was born on October 3, 1962, in Toledo, Ohio, to the late Selby “ST” Thames and the late Elizabeth (Sutton) Thames. He was raised in Swanton, Ohio and graduated from Swanton High School in 1982. Jeffory had a love of sports and played several; football, baseball and his love, basketball, being one of Swanton’s star players, alongside his cousin Stewart Sims. Jeffory accepted Christ at an early age, attending the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Swanton, Ohio.

Jeffory worked at several businesses doing odd jobs in the Toledo/Swanton area and several others when he relocated to Columbus, Ohio. Family, fishing, basketball and the OSU Buckeyes were some of his passions. Jeffory loved family gatherings, most recently he was looking forward to cooking on the grill at his sister Yolondia’s home for the Memorial Day holiday. Jeffory was an avid storyteller, putting together a story that had you either laughing with tears or shaking your head. Either way, it was his way of showing and sharing his love.

Jeffory was preceded in death by his father, Selby “ST” Thames, mother, Elizabeth (Sutton) Thames, brother, Daniel M. Thames and his paternal and maternal grandparents.

Jeffory leaves to cherish is memory, his step-mother, Helen Thames, sisters Yolondia (John) Poole, Freda Brownlee, Selby Darryl Thames, all of Columbus, OH, half-sister, Victoria Thames, half-brothers, Victor (Christine) Stewart, William (Mary) Stewart, Robert (Tammy) Stewart, Brian Stewart and Calder Stewart, all of Toledo, OH; special friend Leslie Thomas and a host of nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
