Obituary for Janette Lorraine Walker
On June 2nd 2021, God sent an Angel for his child Janette Moore Walker.
Janette was the daughter of the late Ida L. Barbour and the late Joseph Moore. She was a 1985 graduate of Jesup W. Scott High School where she earned her Diploma in General Studies. She furthered her education by attending Everest College and received an Associates Degree in the medical field. After graduation, Janette welcomed her oldest daughter Cierra Brown and continued her career in the medical field.
Janette later relocated to Gretna, VA., where she worked at Lane Company until that facility closed, then went on to work at Tultex in Martinsville, VA. for over 4 years. While residing in VA., she was united in holy matrimony to Rodney Walker, Sr. and to this union their youngest daughter Markilla was born.
Janette was lovingly called “Annette” by many and loved fashion, jewelry and her signature red lipstick. She also loved family gatherings especially those held at her brother Eric’s home in Martinsville, VA.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Rodney Walker, Sr., mother, Ida L. Barbour, father Joseph Moore, her step-father, Curtis Barbour, Sr., grandson, Devon Mays, nephew, Willie McDowell, maternal grandparents; John Mose Sr. & Carrie Dawson, maternal great grandparents; James & Cassie Logan, sisters-in-law; Dawn (Curtis) Barbour & Anita (Leon) Barbour.
Those left to cherish her memories are her daughters; Cierra Brown and Markilla (Daniel) Glenn, her 6 grandchildren; Jaelyn & Jayden Harris, Zachariah & Alijah Fitzpatrick, Peyton & Taylor Glenn, her sister; Lorraine Barbour McDowell, five brothers; Curtis Barbour, Jr., Leon Barbour and Sylvester Barbour all of Toledo, OH., Eric (Danita) Barbour of Martinsville, VA., Kenneth (Shorna) Barbour of Clarksville, TN., maternal aunts; Faye, Robinson of Java, VA., Mozelle (John) Fuller of Chatham, VA., Susan Ellis of Hyattsville, MD., three maternal uncles; Joe (Daisy) Dawson of Washington, DC., Colonel (Valerie) Dawson of Chatham, VA., Smiley (Claudia) Dawson of Hurt, VA., maternal great aunt; Clara Marie Logan, maternal great uncles; Alcy Logan, Bernard Logan all of Java, VA., and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and also a special Thank You to Carl Johnson.
