James Smith was born August 25, 1932 in Dooly County Georgia. James was one of five children born to Roland Bearden and Katie Johnson – Gus Smith and Lillie Mae Walker Smith. He departed this life Thursday April 30, 2020 at St. Vincent’s Hospital.

He’s preceded in death by his loving wife of 51 years Beatrice M. Smith; parents; brothers; Jessie Little Jr. (Marie); Charles Smith; sisters; Annie Alford; Susie Sutton; nieces, Odessa Hudson and Birda Mae Cherry.

James served in the Army, worked on the railroad, worked in construction and was also a part of the UN.

James leaves to cherish his memory nieces; Regina Little, GA; Glenda (Freddie), FL; ;Francis Beeman; Rachel (Leon) Vinson; Beverly Sutton-Young and Myrtle Smith; nephews Antonio (Jacqueline) Little, GA; Michael (Devayla) Little, MO; Lemeul (Ann) Little, Ga; Herbert (Catherine) Little, GA; Rickey (Thalia) Little, GA; Eddie Cherry; Kelly Cherry; John Sutton; Clarence Sutton; James Sutton; Ronald Sutton; Kenneth (Ella) Sutton; Bernard (Darlene) Sutton; a host of great and great-great nieces and nephews.
