On December 24, 2019 James Charles Hall made his transition to his heavenly home. James Charles Hall was born October 12, 1939 to the union of Mr. and Mrs. Cleophus and Mildred Smith-Hall in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.
He received his general education in the Toledo Public School System, graduating from Jesup W. Scott High School and attending Macomber Vocational School receiving his certification in Air Condition & Refrigeration. He loved playing baseball, watching football and basketball. He loved cooking and grilling.
James loved the Lord and accepted Christ at an early age. He attended St. Paul after he married Mellody B. Hall.
James was an entrepreneur and comedian. He was employed by Doehler Jervis and Lucas County Metropolitan Housing Authority for 36 years, where he received accolades for saving a family in a house fire on January 22, 1986, working with the youth and his dedicated service at Ravine Park Village.
He was preceded in death by his parents Cleophus and Mildred Hall, sister Arlene King; son Larry Edwards; and son-in-law Horace Gist Sr.
He leaves to cherish his legacy and memory includes his loving wife Mellody Bowen-Hall, sons: James (Lori) Hall Jr., Michael (Audrey) Edwards, Van (Hope) Bowen, all of Toledo, OH, and DeVon Greenlee, Phoenix, AZ, Daughters: Arlene Hopings, Toledo, OH, Cynthia "Neicey" Wright, Decatur, GA, Tracey (Joe) Franklin-Johnson, and Monica Gist, of Toledo, OH. 29 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren. Sister Lelia McFarland, Schaunburg, IL. Special Friends Clearonce Liggons, June Landry and Mack Nunn. His partner in crime Boo-Boo who thinks he is human.
