On Sunday March 1, 2020 God saw a Woman named Gloriene Douglas and said Come on home. You are tired and now you can rest in my kingdom.
Gloriene (Johnson) Douglas was born on August 8, 1938 to the union of Clara Velma Farris Walker and James (Jim) Johnson in Watonga, Oklahoma.
She received her General Education in the Toledo Public School System graduating from Waite High School. She met and married Michael James Douglas and to this union three girls were born. Her Princesses: Pamela Denise, Jamie Renee and Valerie Jean.
Gloriene loved the Lord with all her heart. She accepted Christ at an early age. She joined St. Paul A.M.E. Zion Church when her girls were small.
She was an advisor for the Junior Usher Board for numerous years and she worked with the Youth and Young Adult Choir for many years. She joined Usher Board No. 2 and was still an active Usher until her passing. She was also a member of The Parent Body Missionary Board and assisted with the Culinary Committee.
Gloriene worked as a Nurse’s Aide at Toledo Hospital, Cafeteria Worker at Scott High School. She went back to School at the University of Toledo and received her Associate Degree in Social Service Technology with Certification in the State of Ohio. She worked and retired from Lucas County Department of Job and Family Services. Upon retiring she returned to work for the Lyman Liggons Senior Nutrition Program and was stationed at the Friendship Park Senior Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Continuing her legacy and cherishing her many memories includes her Princesses, Pamela (James Gregory) Hopkins, Sr., Jamie Renee’ (Ricky) Richardson and Valerie J. Douglas. Grandchildren: Marlon, James Gregory, Jr., Shaunta, Dominique, Denisha, Micah, Eric, Raymon, Mariah & Timiney. Great Grandchildren: Bryson, Joslynn, Aston, Avery, Zahara, Josiah & Aiden. Beloved Sister: Frieda A. Banks, Goddaughter: Natalee Pearson, Beloved in laws, Emma Winfrey, Bernard L. Davis, Fred and Lillian Douglas and a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, Loving Relatives, host of friends and her St. Paul Family. Longtime Friends and Traveling Partners: Ann Byrd, Kathryn Pattin & Onetha Pearson.
