Obituary for Douglas N Jones

Douglas N. Jones "Daddy Cool Joe" 71, was born on Monday September 12, 1949 to Vincent C. Ward and Mary E. Ward in Atlanta, GA. Douglas passed away on Saturday May 1, 2021 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio surrounded by his family.

Mr. Jones was a resident of Toledo Ohio. He graduated from Libbey High School in 1967. Mr. Jones attended Howard University on a partial Academic Scholarship where he wanted to study medicine to become a doctor. He returned to Toledo and entered The University of Toledo where he studied to become a License Social Worker. While attending The University of Toledo he enrolled in the ROTC Program to train to become a Military Officer. He worked at Toledo Mental Health Center for ten years as a Program Administrator. He also worked at Unison Behavioral Health Center for ten years as a Counselor.

Mr. Jones worked at Connecting Point for over 20 years and at the Zepf Center where he retired in 2015. Mr. Jones was a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. He was a Master Mason and a Shriner. He was a Deacon at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his loving mother Mary E. Ward, sister Anita L. Ward Young, daughter Janea R. Wilson, nephew Effram (EZ) Smith Jr., and nephew Nekitto Ward.

Douglas N. Jones is survived by his soul mate and devoted wife Phyllis E. Jones, daughters, Ravas Wilson and Shalon Wilson, god daughter Patricia Robinson (BOOBA), his grandsons Charles Austin (CHUCK) the third, Ryan Johnson Jr (RJ), Ra’Mon Johnson (WOO-WOO), Carter Austin, and Cam’Ron Madden, whom he raised. He is also survived by his Father Vincent C. Ward, sisters Vivian Crawford, Carolyn Ward (Chuck) Young, Helen Hicks, Kim Walker and Dayna Copeland, his best friends, James Robinson (Gayle) Robinson, Leon Flanagan, Rod Spencer, Will Horton. A host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
