Dorothy Mallett, 84, passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at her home surrounded by her loving family and with the Lord by her side. Dorothy was born to Ed Mallett and Annie Bell Teague Mallett on August 17, 1935 in Kosciusko, Mississippi.

Dorothy moved from the south with her brother to Toledo, Ohio where she lived at 1017 Avondale for 55 years. Dorothy joined New Home Baptist Church in the 50's under the pastorship of Rev. L.F. Perryman where she served on the usher Board and sang in the choir. She remained faithful until her health declined. She worked for 25 years at the Toledo Hospital in dietary retiring in 1994. She was also a foster ground parent with Toledo Head Start, as she would call it her bubble gum money.

One thing about Dorothy is that she loved the Lord., often saying the Lord has brought her a mighty long way. Dorothy Mallet praised the Lord until her last breathe. She organized the first Mallett and Teague Family Reunion in Toledo, Ohio.

Dorothy loved her family. She would travel down south to visit them. She also loved being in her yard. Dorothy loved to cook. If you ever sat at her table at 1017 Avondale then you enjoyed homemade pound cake, coconut, and banana pudding and had some ice cold sweet tea.

In 2016 Dorothy turned 80 years old which was a milestone because none of her siblings that have passed never reached the age of 80.

Dorothy Mallett was preceded in death by her son, James C. Mallett; granddaughter, Shaunea Young- Thomas, four brothers, and five sisters. She is survived by daughters, Doris Brown-Young (Gilbert) and Shirley (Kenny) Baccus, Lorraine Mallett; son, Cardell (LaTasha) Mallett; grandchildren, Melanie, Melinda, Edward, Gilbert W. (Sherry), Tericka, Cardell Mallet, Jr., JaVaughn, Tremaine, Debra, Christina, and Amiya; sisters, Clara Newell and Pearl Zollicoffer of Kosciusko, MS; special friend, Patricia Williamson, and a host of great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Special Thanks to her caregivers, her daughter, Shirley Baccus (her road dog). granddaughter, Tericka Mallett, and the Ohio Living Hospice and nurses for their care.
