Dorothy D. Grant-McCruter was born on May 20, 1959 to the late Lonnie Payne and Kathleen (Streety) Payne. She attended Pershing High School in Detroit, Michigan. Niecy, as everyone called her, was a Jane of all trades. She loved to decorate regardless if it was a birthday, a wedding, a baby shower, etc. Her all was put into whatever she did. She loved to sing and dance and was the life of all parties.

To know Niecy was to love her. She loved to cook and would feed a village if needed. Niecy had a big heart and if she could help she would. She has opened her home with open arms for anyone in need and loved them as if they were family. Niecy was genuinely loved by everyone and she had a huge impact on a lot of lives. We all have memories to hold on to and with that alone she will forever live through us all. Niecy will truly be missed.

Niecy leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Lester McCruter; three daughters, Jamella. Kathleen, and Jemean; six grandson, Malik, Secarr II, Ke'yontae, Brandon Jr., Eric Jr., Zy'Aire; 10 granddaughters, Shakarra, Paris, Kiaja, Bri'yona, Jerica, Se'Maja, Se'Riyah, Jaiyla, Jai'Dynn, and Ja'Niyah; five great grandchildren, Demond Jr., Mariona, Khialynn, Jay'Veyon, and Secar Jr.
