Ms. Denise Annette Robinson, lovingly known as “Niecy Starr”, was born July 25, 1964 in Toledo, Ohio to Carolyn Jones (Reddick) and the late Charles “Jerry” Jones. God called our precious mother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend home on July 26, 2020 at St. Vincent’s Hospital. She was the second oldest of five children.

Niecy was a student of the Toledo Public Schools. She really loved school! She loved school so much she never wanted to miss a day. Niecy made her first mark in the community when she and a couple of friends walked all the way to Scott High school during the record breaking Blizzard of 1978 . Her determination and love for school landed her picture and story in the Toledo Blade. Niecy also loved to SANNGGG! She was able to make a name for herself while performing with the Overton Blues band. She also performed at the Summit Yacht Club, The Caravan, The Elks and the Peacock just to name a few. She was always able to captivate and “WOW” her audiences when she did what she loved best;” SAAAANGING!” Niecy’s singing was also a gift to her family and her community, allowing her to leave an even stronger mark for all to have long lasting memories.

Niecy’s love for her family and friends was by far her greatest contribution. She was a special person always putting others before herself. She always lit up the entire room with her smile when she made her entrance. Niecy loved her family and friends and her family and friends loved them some “Niecy”. Because she loved her neighbors and her family; every place she lived, her home became the pillar and staple of the community. She loved life and enjoyed hanging and partying with her family and friends. Her home was always the gathering place. She always enjoyed everyone who stopped by daily. Niecy will be missed by all that knew her.

Niecy was preceded in death by her father Charles “Jerry” Jones, stepfather; Archie L. Black, and dear friend, Elaine Fort.

Niecy leaves to cherish her Queen, (mother), Carolyn Black. She also leaves to cherish in her loving memory her children, Demirrz, Ronnie Jr. and Sean Robinson. India Derden, Marquice Robinson, Rickey Morris, Carlos Wooden, and her step-daughter Shevalla Robinson of Georgia. Niecy also leaves behind her siblings: Milton Reddick, Charles Jones Jr, Alice (Richard) Duck and Dennis Black Step-siblings, Marcell Huggins, Diane Farmer, Archie Black Jr., Darryl Shade, Gwendolyn Shade, Darlene Jones, Notashia Williams and Tamiko Powell.

Niecy is also survived by Granddaughters: Dashyra, Symirra, TreNyce, Ca’Myah, Brazill, Liana, Zariah, Anasia, Jhalia, Aliyah, and Nalia. Grandsons: Jayden, Zayvian, Zyair, Sean Jr, Andre II, Jaylen, Jason, James, Rickey Jr., and Carlos Jr.

She also leaves behind special aunts Shirley (Ronald) Sparks, Phyllis Boyd, Percilla Whaley, Marilyn McCreary and special Uncle, Donald Reddick. Niecy is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and life- long friends.

It’s not blood that makes your family, It’s Love!”
