Obituary for Christopher Allen Harris

Christopher Allen Walker-Harris “Spank” was born on January 4, 1994 in Toledo, Ohio to his mother Crystal R. Harris and father John S. Harris, Sr. Chris made his transition from this life on Monday, January 18, 2021 (MLK Day) at his home. Chris was preceded in death by his loving “Dad” Bobby Glen Walker.

In 1995, Chris alongside his mom, joined the Southern Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorate of the late Reverend Robert P. Wormely where he learned of the promise of salvation and the love of Christ. At a very early age, Chris sat on the front pews watching Southern’s musicians where he first developed his love for music.

Chris learned a lot from his mom and his grandfather Isaiah Allen, Jr. (aka Ike). One of the best drummers Chris knew. This drove his passion and talent to be a part of JJ Express Drill and Drum Corp. and the Toledo Elks Lodge. Later on, Chris stood side by side with his siblings and mom and birthed the “Joyful Noise Drill & Drum Corp.” at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church. He also was a part of the all-boys Male Chorus and the Youth & Young Adult Ministries at both Mt. Pilgrim and Southern Baptist Churches.

Chris attended E. L. Bowsher High School and Jesup W. Scott High School in Toledo, Ohio but graduated and received his diploma from Atascocita High School in Humble, Texas where he lived with his parents Glen and Tammy Walker. Chris furthered his education and graduated from Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida with an Associates Degree in Cinematography in 2018.

Chris worked in Columbus, Ohio at Buzztime Entertainment as a Contractor. He then came back home to Toledo, Ohio and worked at Home Depot Warehouse. Chris loved his music. He wrote songs, created beats and arranged and produced his own. Chris was a Renaissance man. He was very crafty with his hands. He could build anything.

Chris was a cheerful giver. He gave his all to any and every one. He was strong and stood on what he believed. One day, his mom took some food over to his place to keep for her because she did not have enough room in her freezer. She called a few months later asking for it and Chris responded “Oh Mom Dukes, I gave it to someone that could use it”. Mom Dukes was mad!! That was almost $200.00 worth of food!! But Chris didn’t care. He said, “How much for the food, I’ll pay you for it.”

Chris loved his brothers Zeke & Al and his sister Brooklyn unconditionally. He was a big brother, father, confidant, protector and friend. He was their leader. He took the steps before they did to show them the way. Chris had a close cousin throughout his life, he called his best friend, La’Teasha Flowers. They were always together. Chris held a special place in his heart for his Mom Dukes, Granny Dukes and his grandfather. His grandfather wasn’t just a grandfather, he was like a father who supported him at every basketball, every football game performances and even Bible studies. Chris loved everyone. He always said, “God Is Love”. He lived his life with the love of God in his heart. More, like Him!

Chris leaves to cherish his unconditional love to his loved ones… his mother: Crystal R. Harris; brothers: Isaiah D. Walker, Alfred L. Dailey, Jr. and John Butler-Harris; sisters: Brooklyn N.
