Christine Crenshaw, 87, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away, August 21, 2020, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. She was born February 5, 1933, in Palestine, Arkansas, to Lester and Ophelia Shelton.
Christine was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, Socialite and friend. She loved the Lord, travel, garden, read her bible, help others and loved to shop! Christine worked for Johns-Manville and Ford Motor Company. Christine was a member of The Eastern Star; Ideal Workers, Nurses Guild at Friendship Baptist Church. Under Christine’s leadership as the President of the Nurses Guild there were 27 nurses volunteering. Then Bishop Tisdale asked her to become a Mother on the Mother’s Board. She was a true child of God with the sweetest spirit and a heart of Gold!
Christine was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Ophelia Shelton, grandmother Dolly Thomas, sisters: Golina Burroughs, Bernice (Duke) White, Estelle (Steve) Michalak and brother Willie B Watson. Sons: Richard and Melvin Gaines and grandson Rudy Jones.
She leaves to cherish her memory, children, Sandra Valentine; Pamela Gaines; Candace (Michael) Johnson; Lance (Hikia) Crenshaw; Christine Denise (Tim) Campbell, beloved daughter-in-law, Robin Gaines and Tony Gaines; 11 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; Christine was the oldest of her 5 siblings. A host of beloved nieces, nephews; Cousin Ruthie Mae Parris; beloved Sister-in-Love Lucetta Crenshaw, Brother-in-Love Steve Michalak
