Obituary for Catherine Paige

Mrs. Catherine "Brown Sugar" Paige was born to the late Tommie Smith Sr. and Roberta Smith on April 24, 1955 in Toledo, Ohio. She gained her wings on Friday, May 22, 2020 at Continuing Health Care in Toledo, Ohio.


She graduated from Scott High School and Stautzenberger College, where she obtained her Certified Nursing Degree. She was later employed at Brookhaven Nursing Home, where she retired from after 17 years.

She was a member of Center of Hope Community Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. D. L. Perryman. She loved the Lord and enjoyed going to church when she could.

Catherine was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, God sister, aunt, friend, cousin, and "other mama" to many. She loved family get togethers, collecting barbie dolls, teddy bears, clocks, big face watches, and Polaroid pictures. She enjoyed coloring, doing crossword puzzles and board games. She was a great and competitive player of Jacks, Pick Up Sticks, Twister, Operation, Back Gammon, and especially, Bingo!!!

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Juanita and Annie; her brothers, James Sr., Tommy Sr. and Charles Sr.; and grandchild, Marshawna.

She leaves to cherish her beautiful memory, her loving and devoted husband, Raymond Paige; her daughters, Cassandra, LeShawna (Marcus), Luevilla and Margaret; her sons, Christopher Sr. and Raymond Jr.; 14 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; her oldest brother, Freddie; youngest brother, David; and youngest sister, Brenda; special niece, Jessica; God brother, Elder James Anderson, and a host of other relatives and friends.
