Obituary for Alfonso Johnson Jr.

Alfonso Johnson Jr. went home to be with the lord on 8/23/2020 in Toledo Ohio.

Alfonso was born on 6/15/1938 to Alfonso and Albertha Johnson in Dayton OH. He was proceeded in death by his parents Alfonso and Albertha Johnson, wife Roberta Johnson, son Tyrone Johnson, daughters Denise Wright and Wanda Johnson-Williams, granddaughter Kasey-Ann Johnson, great granddaughter NyAir Nix, brothers Winston and Howard Johnson, sisters Sonia Gillespie and Geraldine Jackson.

Alfonso committed his life to Christ at a very young age. He was a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and trustee for many years. Alfonso was a jack of many trades. Growing up Alfonso was an avid baseball fan and player. He joined the United States Air Force in 1955-1961 and was able to travel the world. After retiring from the Air Force Alfonso volunteered as a fire fighter in Swanton Oh. He then became a security officer for several years. Alfonso also was employed with Jeep for over 25 year and retired as a supervisor. After retirement he continued on his journey and became a Mason. Alfonso was a member of Mecca Temple #43 and Composite Lodge #108 where he served as the Worshipful Master. He then became a member of St. Matthews Consistory #24 A.A.S.R where he served as the Illustrious Commander in Chief. He was elevated to the 33rd degree on May 26, 2008. Alfonso was also a member of Pride of Composite #81 O.E.S where he served as Worthy Patron. Alfonso was also a long-time advisor for the Comazon Chapter Order of Pythagorans Masonic male youth group.

Alfonso leaves to cherish his daughters Debra Johnson, Christine (Renarda) Shumpert, Karen Johnson and Renae Murrell, sons Alfonso K. (Myrtle) Johnson, Philip (Patricia) Johnson of Toledo Oh. and Steven (LaShay) Johnson of Stockbridge GA. 26 grandchildren, 55 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren, his beloved pet Queenie and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

We would like to give a special thanks to Hospice of Promedica and Homeinstead aids Krystal and Thelma and all of the family and friends who helped him during his time of need.
