On Tuesday October 1, 2020, Aletha Lorraine Mitchell peacefully slipped away to be with the Lord.
Lorraine was born April 15, 1956 to the union of Sam and Voncille Jones. They preceded her in death along with her son Justin Maurice Chapman, husband Joseph Mitchell, sisters Carol Jones, Patricia Ham, Madeline Jones and Minnie Noble. Nephew Clifton Jordan and Ramar Jones. Lorraine confessed Christ at an early age. She was a member of The Indiana Baptist Church.
Lorraine graduated from Scott High School in 1974, she also attended Davis College.
Lorraine worked at Toledo and Flower Hospital after retiring she worked at Toledo Urban Federal Credit Union, Census 2020, and Blue Gill Fishing Club. Lorraine was affectionately known as Granny Raine. Lorraine loved and enjoyed many things, her grandchildren, cooking for family and friends, music, parades, shopping and laughter. Lorraine was a very giving person that’s why all the children on Perth Street adopted her as their other mother.
She leaves to cherish her memories her son, John Marcus Chapman (Monique). Grandsons Johmar, DeMarcus and Amen-ra. Her great niece LaCara Jones, brother Henry Jones; sisters Brenda Street, Mildred Chapman and Johnetta Jackson all of Mobile, AL and Monica Phillips; Aunts Annie Ruth Fair (Nihi) of Evergreen, AL, and Dorothy Booker of Houma, Louisiana; nephews Marvin (Carla) Ham, LaShawn Jones all of Toledo, Ohio; nieces, Shamekia, Shenicka (Toya), Courtney, Cherelle, Tiffany and Janelle Jones, and Miracle Lindsey all of Toledo, OH. John L. Chapman Jr. former spouse. Special friends Suzette Cowell, Marcia Gardner, Regina Merrell, Rosita Nurse, Queen Quinney and Ann Smith.
