Laverne Copeland was born in Toledo, Ohio on May 20, 1957 to the union of Willie and Ann Jett. She departed this life on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio.

Laverne, affectionately known as "Pookie", graduated from Libbey High School in 1975 and had a long career with the State of Ohio until her retirement in 2015.

Laverne enjoyed attending golf outings with her husband, reading, bowling, cooking (at which she was exceptional) and spending time with her granddaughters Na'Siah and Na'Kylee who referred to her as "Pumpkin Pie".

Cherishing her memory are husband of 38 years, Willie J. Copeland Jr.; daughter, Djuan Copeland, son, Willie J.(Carlena) Copeland III ; granddaughters, Na'Siah and Na'Kylee; sisters, Mary (Larry) Alexander & Onida Warren; brother, Ernest (Joan) Boose ; father-in-law, Willie J. Copeland Sr.; and a host of family.

Laverne was preceded in death by both parents Willie and Ann Jett, brother George Boose and sister Carolyn Simmons.
