Obituary for Mark L. Jennings

Mark Lynn Jennings was born November 11, 1923 in Webster, Pennsylvania. He was one of 13 children born to Joe and Carrie Davis Jennings. When the mining jobs dried up, Joe moved his family to Washington, PA.
Mark entered the work force early and became of that, he had many jobs. At eight years old, he hauled 2 buckets of coal to each of five classrooms every day at the school he attended for $1 a month. Other jobs over the years included farm labor, coal mining, work in the steel mill, hospital orderly, dry cleaning and the military. He was drafted into the military at 17 and was part of a tank destroyer battalion during World War II and attained the rank of sergeant. He was discharged in 1945 but was called up later to serve in Korea. He lost the sight in one eye as a result of being injured in that conflict.
In 1948, he married Maxine Wise. They had 3 children: Marsine, Barbara and Douglas. They had been married 61 years at the time of Maxine’s death in 2009.
The family moved to Toledo in the late 1950’s and Mark found work at Dana Corp. and later retired from there.
Mark enjoyed socializing, being president of Spring School PTA and being a member of Lutherans for Humanity Dignity, jazz music, bowling with the Young Senior, and golfing with his buddy, Clyde.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents; twelve brothers and sisters; and his wife. He leaves to mourn his passing his children: Marsine (Don) Martin, Barbara Jennings, Doug (Karen) Jennings; grandchildren: Dyaniese (Lavernard) Brown, Cheryl Johnson and Kian Jennings; great grandchildren: Chandler and Masyn Brown; and a host of relatives and friends.
