Obituary for Dorothy K Burton

Print
Dorothy K. Burton, 67, of Toledo, Ohio, departed this life on Saturday, September 8, 2018, in the comfort of her home. Dorothy was born into her loving mother, Ruby Samantha (Kight) Walker and father, Henry Burton, on November 11, 1950.

Dorothy attended Calvin M. Woodward High School, in Toledo, Ohio, she was an exceptionally bright student, very popular and admired by many of her teachers and classmates. After high school Dorothy went on to college.

Dorothy had so many skills and perfected lots of trades; she was an Artist, Musician, Cake Designer and an excellent Cook. Dorothy, along with working one, sometime, two, full time jobs, served as a Leader in the community, starting as a Foster Parent and a Supervisor, at East Toledo Helping Hand. Dorothy always excelled at her jobs, because anything she did was with passion for great work ethic. Jobs she worked were, Supervisor of Church's Chicken Corporate Office, Flower Hospital and White Tower.

Dorothy wanted to step out of her comfort zone and get her feet wet as a top selling Bill Collector for United Collections Bureau in Blissfield, Michigan. When they closed, she continued her education, earning her Bachelor's Degree for Medical Billing and Coding online from The University of Colorado. In the Meantime, furthering contributing to the humanitarian in her serving the Elderly as the Activities Director with The Manor of Perrysburg, where the residents and staff adored her. Dorothy's talents were broad but if asked, of all her achievements she accomplished were raising her four children as a single parent, would top the list. Raising them with examples of strength, love and integrity that for the most part children never parted from.

Dorothy was fun loving, outgoing, compassionate, intellectual, giving, kind, generous and a pistol to boot. This beautiful lady at times could be filterless, but there is also no bottom to her heart. When she gives, it's her all. Dorothy goes above and beyond for anyone in need, her heart was golden, anyone that knew her only spoke highly of her. Dorothy was full of Pride, Independence and Stubbornness, she was a free flowing spirit full of confidence. Dorothy's loves were a great bottle of wine, cooking, playing self taught instruments and listening to music. She loved Rance Allen!

Many looked to her for advice, inspiration and a listening ear, she was a rock for many, her strength and drive to succeed and uplift made her one of the strongest human beings to know.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her father, Henry Burton, grandmother, Cora Knight, sister, Sherry Knight, brother, Alex Walker, sister, Fannie Mae Smith and niece, Samantha Walker.

Dorothy leaves to cherish her memories; sons, Lamon Burton and Donnell Burton; daughters, Catrice Burton and Timara Campbell; mother, Ruby S. (Kight) Walker; brothers, Carvell Walker and Michael Walker; sisters, Vanessa Walker, and Michelle (Eric) Bouyer; fifteen grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; 6 nephews; 7 nieces and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
