Obituary for Roosevelt Swilling

Roosevelt Swilling
Roosevelt was born to Ola M. Conley and Roosevelt Morris on September 8, 1963 in Toledo, Ohio. He accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church for most of his life. He was a Deacon, a Trustee, a member of the Anointed Voices of Calvary, and an intercessory prayer warrior. He attended Pickett Elementary School and he was a graduate of the Edmund Drummond Libbey High School where he was homecoming king, a cheerleader, and a football star who also played baseball and ran track.

Roosevelt was an amazing man of God who was well-known and loved by many; when the Lord called him home, he was busy on the battlefield praying, praising and interceding for others. He was a good man with a heart for people, and because of that, he connected with and touched the lives of many. When Roosevelt connected with you, you knew you were connected to a true friend.

Roosevelt spent a lot of time traveling to various places because spending time with those he loved was important to him. He was all about making new memories, even if it meant he might sometimes fall asleep in the middle of the festivities. He had an unforgettable three quarter smile and he always smiled the most when he was spending time with his loved ones. He had an amazing sense of humor and an overall zest for life; when he was excited about something he made you excited about it too. Hearing him talk about his goals and dreams was so inspirational – he was encouraged about life, he was always quick to encourage others, and he loved to see people succeed.

Roosevelt was employed by Toledo Public Schools as a school bus driver; he also coached basketball for his high school Alma mater and for his church's team – the Calvary Eagles. He is preceded in death by his mother Ola M. Conley, his father Roosevelt Morris, his step-father Chester C. Conley, Sr., his step-sister Barbara Reid, and his niece Trista Rae Lynn Swilling.

Roosevelt leaves behind to forever cherish his memory his former wife and special friend Delores M. Swilling, his sister Reverend Ivy M. de'Loatch, his children Minister Aleyse Swilling, Moneq King, Jared Smith, Michael Lucas, Isaiah Swilling, Gabryelle Swilling and Malachi Swilling. His grandchildren Nikhi King, Modesti King, Travis King, Karter King, and Tristan King. His brothers John Burkes, Oscar Burkes, Vaughn Edwards, Will Edwards, Sean Edwards and Dennis Conley; special friends Alfonso Rogers and Debbie Davis-Rogers, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
